A one-dimensional map to study multi-seasonal coffee infestation by the coffee berry borer

چکیده
The coffee berry borer (CBB, Hypothenemus hampei) is the most serious insect pest of worldwide; understanding dynamics its reproduction essential for management. female CBB penetrates berry, eats seed, and reproduces inside it. A mathematical model infestation progress by during several seasons formulated. represents interaction among five populations: uninfested, slightly infested, severely infested berries, free encapsulated CBBs. Coffee harvesting also included in model. one-dimensional map derived tracking population subject to certain percentages over seasons. Stability analysis map’s fixed points shows that could be eliminated or controlled a specific level multiple harvesting. However, percent required determined at beginning first season some cases it impossible achieve percentage.

Coffee Berry Borer Resistance in Coffee Genotypes
The aim of this study was to evaluate the coffee germplasm of the Paraná Agronomic Institute (IAPAR) for resistance to the coffee-berry-borer. Preliminary field evaluation was performed in August 2004 and the fruits of less damaged genotypes in the field were evaluated under controlled condition with obligated and free choice experiments established in a randomized complete design with three re...
متن کاملCoffee Berry Borer Joins Bark Beetles in Coffee Klatch
Unanswered key questions in bark beetle-plant interactions concern host finding in species attacking angiosperms in tropical zones and whether management strategies based on chemical signaling used for their conifer-attacking temperate relatives may also be applied in the tropics. We hypothesized that there should be a common link in chemical signaling mediating host location by these Scolytids...
متن کاملThe Coffee Berry Borer (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) in Puerto Rico: Distribution, Infestation, and Population per Fruit
The coffee berry borer (CBB) (Hypothenemus hampei: Ferrar) was first detected in Puerto Rico in 2007. Its distribution since then has been extensive, but not extensively documented. An island-wide survey was carried out from August to November 2014 (the coffee production season) to assess CBB distribution, infestation, and population per fruit. The CBB was well-established throughout the coffee...
متن کاملA Coffee Berry Borer (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae) Bibliography
Native to Africa, the coffee berry borer, Hypothenemus hampei (Ferrari) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae), has gradually invaded most coffee-growing areas worldwide. Adult females colonize the coffee berry and oviposit within galleries in the coffee seeds. Larvae and adults consume the seeds, resulting in drastic reductions in yields and quality, negatively affecting the income of approxi...
متن کاملLandscape context and scale differentially impact coffee leaf rust, coffee berry borer, and coffee root-knot nematodes.
Crop pest and disease incidences at plot scale vary as a result of landscape effects. Two main effects can be distinguished. First, landscape context provides habitats of variable quality for pests, pathogens, and beneficial and vector organisms. Second, the movements of these organisms are dependent on the connectivity status of the landscape. Most of the studies focus on indirect effects of l...
